Rewind Magazine: Issue #3

Please enjoy the third edition of the 'Rewind' digital magazine, produced by Amherst Media Journalism and Social Media interns.

The 'Rewind' was created to showcase intern works, highlighting their originality, creativity, and journalistic reporting. With Kristen Matul Toc, the News Coordinator and Editor, and Emily Tarinelli at the helm, the Broadcast Journalism  and Production interns produced multiple episodes of the Amherst Weekly Report and either chose the pieces they felt the most proud of, or created a completely new piece to alter for print.

This issue featured stories from across the Five Colleges, including an exclusive opinion piece by Basil Pursley, who fled New College of Florida following political unrest to Hampshire College, and their subsequent culture shock when they began attending school in Amherst. Emily Tarinelli provides a guide to local indie bookshops. Emma Roths-Wells and Mia Guaetta both reported on the intensity and consequences of pro-Palestine student protests across the Five Colleges. And for the first time, Social Media intern Kalina Kornacki provided a story about the potential future of local journalism and the means by which the government may or may not intend to protect it.

Social Media interns Amanda DiPaola and Kalina Kornacki developed an 8-bit, retro theme for this issue, creating intricate graphics and scenery, giving it a sense of movement as the reader progresses through the magazine.
