Get experience interning at Amherst Media
Our internship program offers the training and experience that can help you move forward with a career in the world of media production or social media.
Whether it's assisting with studio shoots, covering local government or special events, or creating their own unique content, Amherst Media interns are the heart and soul of our organization. Interns receive free training and use of our facilities and equipment in exchange for assistance with our daily workflow.

Production Intern
Get real-world experience working with a crew, covering community events and filming member programs for broadcast on our three channels. Become a part of the production team and develop your videography and editing skills.
What you’ll do:
- Shoot programs and events as they are scheduled
- Edit programs with Adobe Premiere
- Learn motion graphics with Adobe After Effects
- Work closely with the Director of Production to develop production skills
- Fill various crew roles in the production team for various shoots
Intern Requirements:
- Excellent communication skills
- Punctuality
- Ability to work to independently

Education Intern
Help us educate our community about media! You will work directly with our Community Education Manager to facilitate, support, and coach community members in our innovate workshops on topics like: creating your own audiobook, exploring sounds in nature, creating mini documentaries, and more.
What you’ll do:
Regularly post reels, stories, and standard posts on Instagram & Facebook on a pre-determined schedule
Regularly engage with community members on social media platforms.
Use Instagram reels and stories to boost engagement and widen our audience
Create infographics and/or virtual flyers to maintain visual accessibility using
Draft monthly newsletter
Intern Requirements:
Experience working in classrooms (informal education settings like camp and after-school absolutely count!)
Superior communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to connect easily with individuals of all ages
Comfort with facilitation and public speaking
Preference to individuals with basic media skills in podcasting, Adobe, etc.

Many of our workshops are focused on work with youth (10-18) and some are with adults. We encourage you to indicate interest in specific ages you are interested in working with.

Office Support Intern
Get real-world experience working in an office of a local nonprofit! Interface with community members to help them get connected with resources and assist staff in serving the community.
What you’ll do:
-Data entry
-Greet community members
-Assist with office scheduling
-Provide support to the Executive Director
Intern Requirements:
-Excellent communication skills
-Superior organization and all-around executive functioning skills
-Comfort with spreadsheets, google suite, and more
-Comfort with public speaking

Social Media Intern
Be one of the voices behind the social media for our organization! It is important that we keep community members informed about what’s going on in town, and well as what we’re doing to support the community. We are working towards for community engagement, not just increased audience
What you’ll do:

Summer Eduction Interns
Work alongside the Community Education Manager to implement a new offering to the community: 3 unique mini-camp programs. Interns will assist with camp program facilitation, support with group management (grounded in restorative justice, which we'll teach you all about!), and build their muscles in faciliating informal education workshops.
What you’ll do:
- Facilitate education content
- Work 1:1 or in small groups with participants
- Directly teach or support the teaching of new media skills
Intern Requirements
- Strong communication skills
- Education experience (informal education is welcome -- camp counselors, after-school teachers, etc.!)
- Interst in media production and developing skills in this area
- Experience with or commitment to social justice driven classroom management, specifically restorative justice
- Commitment to supporting learners at their phase of development
